Hotel le Chalet

My room had a very spacious, comfortable shower, and when a bathroom light failed, it was fixed within half a day. The hotel on the eastern edge of Gresse-en-Vercors is lovely and well equipped, with a clean room and technical fittings that all worked. The restaurant served creative, tasty French food. Breakfast meant going to another building, but there was plenty to choose from. The cocoa from the machine was poor, made with powder and water and much too strong. Having cold milk available helped improve it. Butter came only in small packaged portions. Small unpackaged pieces could be offered to cut down on wrapping.

The restaurant offers excellent value, with first-rate food and service in a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff were pleasant, and the site itself is beautiful, with comfortable rooms.

The rooms were large and clean, and the welcome was very friendly. We had a brilliant five-course half-board meal. Beautiful mountain walks start right from the hotel, so there’s no need for a car.

We all had a lovely long weekend chez vous at le Chalet Prayer, at least our third time, I think. I hope our Geneva Walking Group can visit again one day. Our members, including me, are getting older and less strong, and our wonderful leaders Coralie and Peter Hesse take us on a different Alpine adventure each June. This year it’s Kandersteg. Maybe next year we’ll head south of Geneva again. I’m sure we’ll be back sometime, because staying with you is always such a wonderful experience. Merci d'avance, Susan Rumphorst
