La Ferme Chapouton - Teritoria

The garden is lovely, and the pool was a welcome way to cool off. Staff were really friendly, and the rooms were decent, at an upper standard. At 225€ it seemed alright to us. Parking is free, and there are several EV chargers with an easy ad-hoc payment setup at 0.39 cents per kWh. We arrived with our dog and found a bowl and bed waiting in the room, which was a nice touch. I wouldn't recommend booking the massage, though. It's held off-site in the neighboring village.

The food was good and the setting was beautiful, but I left feeling completely overlooked because of my dietary needs. I have a gluten intolerance, and the staff seemed poorly informed. There was just one menu item I thought I might be able to eat. It was listed as containing spelt, which isn't gluten-free, but when I asked, staff assured me it was safe. I still wasn't convinced when it arrived, given its texture and appearance. They reassured me again, but when I asked to see the packaging so I could check the ingredients myself, it never came. Nobody checked back on me either. Service was slow from the start, especially for a place with such a high-end feel. We waited a long time after sitting down before asking for menus and placing our drink order. Later, bread was brought to the table before the mains. I asked whether they had gluten-free bread, and they did, but it arrived 45 minutes later, after the main courses had been cleared. The tea I ordered with dessert never showed up. For the price, the service was unacceptably poor. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone with dietary restrictions. I've never felt so ignored over a food need, and there was no real care or concern from the staff.

With Grignan castle right in view, we shared the rack of lamb specialty, carved at the table, with delicious gravy and dauphinois potato each. Paired with some delightful local reds, it was one of our best meals in France. We loved it all. Kevin and Hayley, Perth West Australia
