The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and the hotel has a certain charm. The balcony, though, was completely bare apart from an ashtray that hadn't been emptied. There was also a 2-3 cm gap under the door, so hallway light came through at night. Annoying, but not a major problem. The real letdown was finding the restaurant closed after a long day on my motorbike. Staff pointed me to a nearby pizza takeaway or a kebab place about a 10-minute walk into town. Those weren't great options after I'd passed so many signs for Foie Gras at restaurants along the way, only to find that in Grissolles that seemed to be all there was. If you're booking on booking, call the hotel first and check whether the restaurant is open.

We had a really enjoyable meal, and the friendly atmosphere and pleasant service added to it. The ingredients and cooking tasted high quality, and the price felt very fair. The fish was cooked just right, with a tasty sauce, and the fries and potatoes came in generous portions. And the chocolate dessert was wonderfully rich, with just the right texture. I highly recommend it!
