Village vacances Cévéo de Gruissan

It was fine.

The staff were active and tried hard to provide good service. The manager was around, but didn't get very involved. Food was simple, varied and decent, served buffet-style, and the atmosphere was generally friendly. Still, the evenings could feel very repetitive, and overall the stay was pretty average. Good weather and the people I met helped make it better. The holiday village has a camping feel, with cottages or mobile homes that are cramped and basic, including a sofa that doubles as the bed. Cleaning between guests felt a bit slapdash. The grounds are fairly big but short on greenery and flowers, and free parking is welcome. At reception, we got very little information, as everyone seemed to have a set role. Beyond the weekly programme and games, there wasn't much on offer. Excursions were all scheduled in the morning or daytime, which was a shame. Afternoon and evening activities, including games, dances, competitions and entertainment, seemed poorly planned and almost improvised.

The manager and staff handled things deplorably, and I’d avoid this place. The room had bedbugs all over the mattress and bed slats. They were so large and numerous, it seemed clear they hadn’t just arrived the day before. The weekend might have been pleasant otherwise. From the comments about the pool, I also suspect maintenance is very poor.

Direct access to the lagoon, a pool, and a play area for children were all there. I stayed in one of the permanent buildings at this really pleasant campsite. Parking was convenient and free, and I was happy with my stay.
