Les 12 De Larros

The stairs don't feel safe for children, and the high windows have no curtains. Otherwise the stay was okay. Breakfast costs €18 per person, children included, for a baguette and croissants, plus a piece of fruit and a drink, which seems overpriced.

The balconies were a highlight for us. One faces west toward the sea, and the other, off the bedroom, looks over a little lake edged with buildings and restaurants. Both had somewhere to sit, and we enjoyed some beautiful sunsets during our four nights. Les 12 De Larros is also brilliantly placed for leaving the car behind, walking to the oyster shacks, and trying local oysters with wine. You can stroll to the Statue of Christ and on to some of the other ports. In the second week of June it was very quiet outside lunchtime and early evening, and neither the parking area nor the nearby restaurant bothered us. The restaurant shuts at 9.30pm. We had apartment No 8 on the first floor. Check-in was friendly, and you reach the upper apartments by an outside spiral staircase, as there are no lifts. I suspect rooms Nos 8-12 on that floor are the better choice. The place was packed when we first arrived in the middle of a hot, sunny public holiday, but by the time we returned at 4.00pm everyone had left. We were offered a breakfast hamper on arrival, delivered at the time we agreed. We chose the basic one, with orange juice, chocolate milk, coffee pods, fruit, yogurt, half a baguette with butter and jam, croissants, and pain au chocolate. It was more than enough. If you want one every day, make sure your request has been noted. The apartment felt bright and airy, with high vaulted ceilings and wooden beams. Each one has original hand-painted murals. Ours had a separate WC, a bright bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a kitchenette with a microwave, two-plate induction hob, fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, and kettle. There was enough crockery for four, plus a knife for opening oysters. The large double bed was very comfortable. There was also a TV, which we didn't use, and air conditioning, which we didn't need during our stay. Bed linen, towels, and kitchen towels were provided. The Wi-Fi code worked well throughout our visit. There are lots of CCTV cameras in the public areas and access points. Parking is outside below the building, but spaces aren't reserved and it can get busy at certain times. The ground-floor apartments are a little elevated, though I think one side has less privacy because cars park alongside the building and a foot ramp leads to the ground-floor accommodation. We loved our time here, fell for the area, and are already planning to come back.

No.12 was a fantastic place to stay. It's spacious enough for four adults and has full facilities. There are three balconies, so in April we had plenty of choice for sitting outside, with spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Restaurants and oyster shacks are close by. We loved it.

As a wheelchair user, I had no trouble getting around this hotel. The accessible room, area, and bathroom all worked very well for me. The people were lovely too, and it was a great experience.
