The night was wet, cold, and uncomfortable. Rain came through the uninsulated roof and onto the floor, dampening the bedding and our clothes and making it too cold to sleep. The muddy paths between the house and reception felt unsafe, even for us as young people. We'd booked two nights but left before 9am the next day. The forest setting, price, and promise of a little adventure had appealed to us, though we already knew about the hearing and the so-called “private toilet,” and had seen misleading pictures of the houses. The heating was too old and small to make any difference. The toilet was just a hole in the wood with a trash bag inside. The house was dusty and dirty, with cleaning equipment left on the floor. The reception was dirty too. When we saw the kitchen through its open door, it looked in terrible condition, so we skipped breakfast and dinner because we didn't want to get sick. The public toilet was worse than one at a station. We left damp and cold. This place seems suited to people looking for a survival experience.

Getting breakfast in a basket lowered by a pulley the next morning was a treat. It was hot and delicious, though the milk we'd asked for wasn't included. The host made up for that by offering us free coffee in the restaurant, and I left a tip because the stay was such a memorable experience. After a tiring trip from Dover, we arrived in what felt like a magical place that brought back childhood fairytales and fantasy. Our tree house was very clean and tidy, and we may never get the chance to do anything like it again. The host was extremely friendly and handled our limited French well. Our little squirrel kept us entertained through the night, doing the hokey cokey in clogs. We also had dinner after arriving. It was unusual and tasty, though not quite to our modest tastes.

My girls loved staying in a treehouse. Such a cool way to camp! The host was nice, and the beef bourguignon dinner was delicious.

The restaurant was really good, with delicious food. The setting is lovely too, and the houses up in the trees have a fantastic elvish style :-)
