That ride along the old railway was just right for the boys before we headed to Caen. We stopped in the village for baguettes, then came back to a peaceful, magical place that made us feel so welcome. We stayed in the family room, and our children, 9 and 11, were thrilled with the special bunks, games, books, and play dough. Breakfast was a treat, with everything homemade. We were so taken with the place that we’ll come again. A lovely family stay, highly recommended.

A lovely property with wonderful hosts and a great setting for a family break. It felt like a proper bit of rustic rural France.

We rented rooms for ourselves and our guests, and the breakfast was delicious. The owner was friendly and attentive, and Château de la Chasse Guerre gave us a magnificent, romantic setting for our July 2022 wedding. It felt authentic and just right for the occasion. We did have a conversation with the owner about communication with the caterer, and there were a couple of organizational issues connected to that. Still, the wedding was fantastic. An extraordinary bed and breakfast setting with a very welcoming owner.

The hosts are what really make this place. The welcome is remarkable, and you feel at home straight away. The food is extraordinary, so don't miss the communal dinner. We had a fantastic evening and will definitely return. The intriguing name and the fun of saying you slept in a castle may bring you here, but the hosts are the real charm.

I woke up this morning looking for Blandine and that sumptuous breakfast spread, with its homemade bread and yogurt, fresh fruit salad, and jams. Where was it? And my four-poster bed, Léon with his flamboyant plumage? Then I realized, I'm home! If you'd like that same feeling, visit her hunting and war estate. It's a chance to enjoy simple, authentic things and slow down from the hectic pace of life these days. Five stars, fully deserved.
