Le Chalet Des Liaudes

The chalet is a great base for mountain outings. It sits at the start of the climb to the Col du Joly, with beautiful hikes and Mont Blanc views. The Hauteluce ski resort gondolas are 300m away on skis or 800m by car. Sophie, who’s from the valley, knows the area well and can offer advice on hikes, trail runs, and ski touring. She also guides via ferrata. Her parents’ farm just above the chalet sells delicious mountain food, including cheeses, yogurt, flans, fresh eggs, and more. Inside, the rustic farmhouse living room is lovely for intimate dinners with friends. The table seats up to 14, and there are all the utensils you need for raclette and Savoyard fondue. The kitchen opens onto a bar, so you can have an aperitif while someone cooks. Beds are comfortable, including two 160cm double beds. We used the linen and towel service and were glad not to have to make the beds on arrival. There are three bathrooms, one with a big corner bathtub, perfect after a hike or a long ski day. I highly recommend this place to mountain lovers.

The couple who run the place were very welcoming. We’d met them at local markets selling their excellent produce. The spot itself is peaceful and beautiful, on the road to the Col du Joly.

We got a wonderful welcome at this magnificent chalet. The owner has local products to enjoy, and they’re delicious.

A short weekend with friends, and it felt like paradise.
