Lachanau Paradis

We really appreciated being able to borrow bikes, and even rode all the way around the lake. The house at Lachanau Paradis is lovely, practical, and well equipped, with two terraces that make it feel as if you're living outside. A peaceful spot for a wonderful holiday. Thanks, Yvonne!

The place itself is beautiful, but the house had mice in the rafters and kitchen, which was a real shame. There were also lots of smaller problems that affected our stay: doors that wouldn't shut properly, no mattress protectors, an old straw mattress under the child's bed, and outdoor furniture that was dated and partly broken. The washing machine in the garage was dirty and poorly lit, and its door wouldn't close, so we had to move the freezer to fix it. A kitchen drawer wouldn't close either, though we repaired it, and the sofa was very uncomfortable. The price didn't feel justified. The owner said he would get in touch to discuss these issues, but eight months later, nobody has. Thank you, sir, for taking these comments into account for future guests.

Now that it's autumn, I'm thinking back to our summer in Hourtin. We grandparents got to take a break with our grandchildren, and our time in Lachanau felt like a little touch of eternity. There was so much to do around us: the lake, ocean, pine forests, walks, swimming, and tennis. We'd have coffee in the morning on the church square, then maybe ice cream on the terrace for an afternoon snack, oysters or crêpes, depending on what everyone felt like. The welcome felt just like being with friends, and the house felt like home.

The house had everything we needed, and the location worked perfectly for a lovely weekend at Lachanau Paradis. We were delighted with our stay. Thanks again!
