L'auberge d'Inxent

Dinner was the kind of meal where I could have picked anything on the menu; everything we tried was delicious. The local ingredients are a real feature, with most coming from within 2.5k of the property and breakfast honey made by bees in the garden opposite. The rooms have been beautifully refurbished, and service was attentive. It’s a gorgeous little place tucked away off the beaten track, though still an easy schlep from the Channel Ports.

The food was the highlight: the chicken and duck were both superb, the dessert was fantastic, and service was great. We also had a bottle from the extraordinary wine list. It was expensive, but worth every penny. We stopped for one night on our way back to Calais, on a quiet road in a great location. The room was nice, the bed comfortable, the bathroom good, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was a typical French serving, with no complaints from me. Dogs are accepted, though the fee was more than I’d like to pay. Thoroughly recommended, and I can’t wait to stay again.

A great little pub, really, in a quaint auberge. The young host was wonderful and the chef superb. It’s easy to reach from Calais, whether you’re heading south or on your way home to the UK, and well worth a visit.

The food was incredible, and the owner made us feel welcome with a friendly greeting. It’s a lovely spot for a quiet weekend away, with farmhouse-style accommodation. The wines were amazing too, which makes sense since the owner is also a sommelier.
