Château d'Island Vézelay

The owners were great and helped us with everything we needed. It’s a cosy, quiet place, and the rooms and main hall all look lovely. You’re staying in an old castle, but the bathrooms and beds are fairly new. We had a great time here.

Marie and Yves made the week special. They were there for all our needs and requests, always happy to help, even shuttling our group back and forth to Vasiley. We all shed a tear saying goodbye at the end of the week. We rented the whole castle for an epic adventure with a group of 40 friends, and weren’t disappointed. There was a room for each of us, and every one was different, unique, sometimes quirky, and always interesting in a good way. The spacious grounds and flower gardens were really pleasing.

We were a large group, and the castle felt magical and incredible. The hosts were very friendly and pleasant, and met our needs with all our requests. Inside, there’s a rich interior and a variety of rooms. Outside, there’s a beautiful garden and a large area to walk around. It’s very quiet and peaceful.

The park is incredible, and the rooms have been beautifully restored while keeping the feel of many centuries. My wife and I have been to few places as spectacular as this. The Château’s owners have put their lives into restoring it, and they’re super lovely and friendly. It’s quiet here, just 10-15 minutes from Vezelay.
