Hotel et Résidence Esbly

There’s barely room for two people in the room, let alone our suitcases. We had to shift the beds to make them fit, and the whole building smells of smoke. The bathroom would be funny if it weren’t so grim: the door swings open while I’m sitting down, my knees don’t fit between the toilet and the glass door, and the shower is right over the toilet. It’s not near anything, either. I could put up with a tiny room since I’m not here to spend my holiday indoors, but there’s no bus stop, taxi, or anything close. And don’t waste your money on the coffee machine.

The only decent part of our stay was the friendly front desk. We had four rooms, and every one was terribly dirty. Some smelled bad, the taps felt sticky, and there were yellow stains in the showers. Two rooms and at least one bathroom had mold, and the bath doors left a gap that meant no privacy on the toilet. The building felt like a bunker, though it’s old and the furniture is worn, that wasn’t really the issue. Even for one night, with low expectations because of the price, it was a terrible stay. Don’t go.

The rooms are tiny, and the toilet and shower were awful, with a disgustingly yellow shower floor. They weren’t completely clean or tidy, either. There’s no air conditioning, so summer heat in the rooms would be unbearable, and the TV didn’t work. The ad made the place look nothing like it does in reality. Corridors were noisy, and I found it disgusting that mostly single men staying there walked around naked. I wouldn’t want to return even if I were paid. This isn’t somewhere I’d recommend for families, couples, or anyone. Avoid it.

The rooms are compact, but three of us slept there without any trouble. We stayed during our Disneyland visit in August 2018, and the park was only about a 10-15 minute drive away. For a 2 star hotel, it was reasonably good. We’d gladly stay again, and probably will.
