Maison de Dame Tartine

The family room had plenty of space, and we really enjoyed the excellent breakfast. We also had the delicious surprise dinner at Dame Tartine. Its rustic, old-time character gives the building a lot of charm, and the natural setting was lovely for unwinding. We spent two nights there and would happily return if we're in the area again.

The surroundings at Maison De Dame Tartine looked like a dump when we arrived, which was a shock despite the pretty setting. We were disappointed with the welcome and the conditions. The person checking us in was barefoot and looked as if he’d just come off Koh-Lanta. Our room wasn’t ready, though we could leave our bags there. We were staying in September 2025 for the Barjac flea market. Before long, the Wi-Fi and fans both stopped working, and the heat in the room was unbearable. A thunderstorm came through overnight and water began leaking into our room. We were so frustrated that we left in the middle of the night, losing a night’s sleep. The owner initially refunded only one of the two rooms, saying the other couple had posted a negative review on Booking.com. I contacted Booking.com to assert my rights, and then, to my surprise, the owner agreed to refund the whole stay. Anyone considering a stay at Maison De Dame Tartine should know these problems may occur. We were very disappointed by the experience.

We’ll be back, thank you! It’s a lovely place, and the meals made with local products were incredibly good. Excellent value for money.

The grounds were pretty, though there was a lot of clutter around. I had a very courteous welcome and an excellent meal prepared by the owner. It made for a great stop on my cycling trip.
