The room looked fine when we first walked in, but the bathroom smelled awful. Then we pulled the bedspread back to sleep and both started itching. The sheets were grimy, dusty, and had hair on them, so we had to get up, shake the bed, and take the bedspread off before we could rest. My girlfriend later developed an allergic reaction, and I’ll attach the report. Getting into the room was a problem too. We’d booked one night through Booking.com after arriving in Paris, and they suddenly asked for a €100 deposit that hadn’t been mentioned before we paid. They only took credit cards, but we had cash and arrived late, just wanting to sleep. We waited about 30 minutes with no answer. They said we could pay by card or leave them a photo of our card, which felt very suspicious. After we pleaded for an exception, they let us in because we were leaving early the next morning. Otherwise, I don’t think they would have let us stay. This place was nothing like its description. I wouldn’t stay again and don’t recommend it.

The stained fabric bed base could use a deep clean. The bedding itself was fresh, though, and I know accidents happen with fabric. The €100 deposit was only mentioned at check-in, so keep that in mind. I asked about it when we checked out and kept the receipt and photos of the room. We left on Wednesday, and the money was back in my account Thursday morning. The location was our only real complaint. It takes around 45 minutes by car to get to the centre, and an Uber can be expensive. There’s no nearby Metro, just a bus. The area didn’t feel great either. I saw a rat outside one night, and we wouldn’t walk around once it got dark. That’s not necessarily the hotel’s fault, but it’s something to know. Local Uber drivers said the area is seeing a lot of development, with more hotels and apartments going up. Otherwise, we had no major complaints.

We’ve been coming back several times a year for quite a few years. It’s comfortable and very good value, with prices that are hard to beat.

Getting into central Paris is straightforward, even though the hotel is a little out of the way. Take a short bus ride to the train station and you’re right in the centre. The rooms are spacious, and having a kitchenette is handy if you want to make dinner. We found plenty of good food nearby too, including a lovely bakery just around the corner. Check-in was kind and accommodating. I asked for the room to be cleaned one day, but they forgot. There isn’t a 24/7 cleaning service, so make sure your request doesn’t get missed.

Our room keys stopped working every day while we were out, so we kept having to ask the front desk to reactivate them when we came back from the city late at night. The towels and sheets were stained and dirty, and the halls and walls looked gross and smelled strange. The area felt very rough, and we were on guard all the time. We walked 20 minutes to find dinner on our first night, and going through the streets felt scary. Nearby, there’s only a small supermarket, a restaurant, and a little bakery/cafe. The A/C in one of our connecting rooms was broken for the whole stay. We checked in on Saturday and reported it right away, but were told that because it was the weekend, nobody would probably be able to fix it before Monday. That’s unacceptable. The A/C leak left water on the floor. When we asked for it to be cleaned, a staff member spread it around with a rag, and someone I assume was her manager said she’d done a good job. We asked for a partial refund and offered to squeeze into the room with working A/C, but the staff wouldn’t help and refused compensation. The photos and 3.9/5 rating fooled us. I’d tell people not to stay here. From what I’ve read, several reviewers mention the same problems. There are some very positive reviews too, but I can imagine those might be from friends or employees boosting the rating.
