We paid for a room with a terrace, but when we checked in, we were given a very small room without one. At first, the front desk staff acted as if there was no problem. Once we pointed out the difference, they wouldn't offer a partial refund or compensation for the downgrade. They only offered three days of free breakfast, which felt completely unreasonable. The room mismatch and the staff's misleading response ruined our stay and holiday. I found the experience deceptive and a total rip-off, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Good value and clean, though it was a little noisy and not very comfortable.

There were renovation workers and noise all over the hotel, and the bar was closed. The staff seemed to think the air conditioning not working was normal. They said May usually isn't hot, so they hadn't planned to switch it on this year. They explained that the hotel had just become a franchise of a new group and needed renovations. Even so, they could at least have closed off the floors being worked on to show some respect for guests. For such an expensive three-star hotel, I found the whole situation appalling.

The breakfast I paid extra for was a mess. There was very little to choose from, and when I asked for eggs, staff said they should normally have some but were out, that I'd need to wait about an hour, and that they might still not be available then. The next morning I told the receptionist I was unhappy. Before leaving, I asked to buy still water. He checked the hotel bar fridge, found none, and offered sparkling water instead. When I said I didn't like sparkling water, he said they unfortunately had no still water. I couldn't believe a hotel in a large chain couldn't provide a basic bottle of water. The room was around 34°C, with no working air conditioning. At reception I was told it hadn't been activated yet and might not be working for another two weeks to a month. There were no advance warnings about that, the renovation work, or its disruptions, and I wouldn't have booked if I'd known. Workers were painting the common areas, leaving a strong smell in the hallways and rooms. The heat and paint fumes made the stay very unpleasant. Between the poor breakfast, lack of water, renovation smells, and overheated room, the experience was catastrophic. The hotel seemed disorganized and unconcerned about guests. How could they offer rooms in those conditions without telling people? Sleeping in that heat was impossible and far below the minimum service I expect from a hotel. I strongly advise against staying here. It's one of my most disappointing hotel experiences in recent years.
