Mercure Paris Ivry Quai de Seine

For one night, it had everything we needed. The room was clean, with the basics, vinyl flooring, and a mattress that felt firm and new. Breakfast offered plenty of choice: breads and croissants, cereal, eggs, bacon, yogurt, and a fancy coffee machine. Staff were helpful, though not especially friendly.

The area was quiet, with food, groceries, and a bus stop close by. Check-in was easy, and the room was comfortable and clean, though the shower could use an update. Breakfast was okay. We’ve stayed here twice and enjoyed both visits.

The room felt airy and spacious, and breakfast had a good range of food. We also got a warm welcome from reception when we arrived.

The city itself was beautiful, which made the disappointing stay and some staff attitudes all the more frustrating. In the room, the carpet was extremely dirty, and I found footprints in the bathroom when I came back. In many Asian cultures, people take off their shoes before entering a bathroom, especially in hotels, for hygiene. That standard of cleanliness wasn’t followed here. I’ve traveled to many countries and haven’t run into this before. The dining area was split into two separate sections, which struck me as showing little consideration or understanding from management. It gave me the impression of poor hospitality and a lack of basic human compassion.
