Residence du Bourg-Nouveau

My mother died around mid-May, and six months later the care home still hasn’t returned the rent we overpaid. The Hamon Law says the money should be reimbursed within one month. Is this unusual, or is withholding refunds from families already grieving a standard practice? I can’t say, but people in this situation should claim the overpayment. I’m still pursuing the money the home is holding back and am considering contacting the local press to stop this kind of abuse spreading. We had to make the painful decision to place our mother here in February; she stayed almost four months before passing away. The caregivers provided good service, but management and administration showed no empathy. End-of-life care fell short, and the medical team could have spared her unnecessary suffering.

My father, Mr. Clisson, passed away at 100 after spending 39 months at the Résidence du Bourg Nouveau in Jonzac. I want to thank the staff for their professionalism and for looking after him through the good periods and the harder ones, especially in his final weeks. He particularly valued the personal attention from Damien, Justine, Sandrine, Pascal, Florent, Floriane, Christophe, the director Ms. Fautrier, Dominique, all the nurses, and Diamant the cat, who brightened his days there. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give. My grandfather was there for two months, and I’m very disappointed. Had I known about the degrading hygiene, I’d never have placed him there. They didn’t wash him properly and left him in his own excrement for an entire day. I heard this from a friend who was doing an internship there. The staff aren’t trained well enough, the food was expired, and sometimes residents weren’t fed properly. Money was taken from our account twice, and we were told a refund wasn’t possible. The managers say they care about patients, but I don’t believe that. It feels like they’re only there to take money and put elderly people at risk. I think medical rules need reviewing and the management needs to change; in my view, they aren’t capable of running a place like this. Staff filed complaints and were strangely fired after speaking out, which is shameful and looks like an attempt to hide the misery. I intend to file a complaint, and I won’t let this comment stand.
