We won't pay the €24 charge for used towels. The apartment needs serious renovation before it should take future tenants: wallpaper is peeling, the linoleum is badly laid, the paint needs redoing, and the furniture should be replaced. It is a beautiful three-story building with several apartments, right in Jonzac's historic center, but ours was filthy when we arrived. There was dust everywhere, cobwebs, pet hair, and a neglected sink. The bed in the second bedroom was very poor quality, and the sheets supplied by the establishment should be thrown away.

Jonzac turned out to be a fascinating, very old village, just as I expected from the “ac” in its name. Finding the 12th-century church was a lucky discovery, and the site itself is surprising. The castle seems a little out of place. I also hadn't expected the village to have mattered so much in the last war: a hero blew up France's second Wehrmacht ammunition depot, and the explosions went on for three days. Visit, but read the Wikipedia article first. HAPPY READING.

Just a short walk from Jonzac Castle, this is a lovely old building with spacious rooms and high ceilings. The apartment is well located and has all the amenities. I highly recommend it.

The location is good, but this apartment needs major renovation and the cleanliness is seriously lacking. Maybe I was in a different apartment from the one described in the earlier positive reviews. If clean surroundings matter to you, this place isn't suitable. I don't recommend it.
