The tennis court was in excellent condition, and it’s a macadam surface. We stayed in the rural gîte on the grounds. Such a beautiful, peaceful country escape, and Marion greeted us warmly.

The castle was closed when we came, unfortunately. It’s a lovely place, though, with a nice view over the valley and lake.
We stayed in one of the castle’s gîtes, enjoyed the gardens and ponds, and rented access to several ponds. The village of Joyeux is a handy base for exploring the Dombes. The castle is well preserved and has magnificent views over the region. It’s a major destination in the Dombes.
We came across this beautiful private château by chance during the European Heritage Days. The owner gave us a clear, detailed tour and explained its history and architectural design, including the wolf’s leap. Thanks so much, it was a real pleasure.
The accommodations work really well for groups. It’s a lovely place in a great spot, close to the bird park.
