Logis Hotel Le Bellevue

The town is lovely, with lots of bars and restaurants, and there's a handy free ferry across the Seinne. The restaurant is fabulous: excellent service and freshly cooked food that's absolutely delicious. It's well worth visiting even if you don't stay at the hotel. The hotel was a disappointment, though. We had to wait outside until 4.30 to get into our quite small, run down room. For the price, I'd have expected more, including a kettle in the room, as some places provide.

We returned in August 2024, and I'm delighted to say it was just as good. Our first stay had only been planned as a convenient, affordable overnight stop on the way south from Calais, to avoid the sometimes slow morning traffic in Rouen. The reviews seemed fine, so we expected an adequate break in the journey. Instead, it became one of our holiday highlights. We were sorry our plans ruled out a return visit that time, but we'll definitely come back. It's a perfect place to break a journey, with a restaurant worth a considerable detour. We strongly recommend it. La Bouille is a charming village, and the riverside location and views are superb. Street parking might sometimes be an issue, but we found a spot right outside the hotel. Check-in was friendly and efficient, and our ageing legs appreciated the lift. The rooms are small, basic, a bit dated, but adequate and clean. It's an unpretentious 2*, with real French character you usually don't find in newer hotels at or above this price range. Until dinner, we were more than satisfied with our choice. After the meal, all four of us were delighted. We rarely, if ever, eat better. The food quality far exceeded what we expected, and the service was just as charming and efficient. Breakfast was a lovely finish to our stay. Our party of two couples had booked Le Bellevue for one night.

The village is lovely and historic, and we found this to be great value on our way south towards Bordeaux. The people are delightful, the rooms are nice, and we had a comfy bed. Dinner was tasty and very good value, and breakfast was very good too.

We stopped here for a night on our way farther south in France. It's a lovely historic building overlooking the Seine, tastefully modernized and offering great views. The bed was comfortable, and the ensuite was nice, with a good shower over the bath. The buffet breakfast was pretty good for 11 euro. Parking is only on the street, though.
