Gites Le Couchetat

The cheeses were delicious, just like the rest of the meal. The menu is short, but the dishes are original and very well made. They also have an impressive wine list and a particularly good selection by the glass. The staff were genuinely friendly.

The meal was beautifully presented and the food was excellent, and we were greeted warmly and served efficiently. But my wife's mirabelle tart was burnt enough that you couldn't taste the fruit. When I mentioned it, the lady in charge said she'd tell the Chef, with no apology or even a simple sorry. The bill was 155€. I would usually have left a 20€ tip, but this time the 50c I left felt generous. A small apology would have made all the difference.

Snow was falling, which gave this little mountain restaurant a really authentic feel. The staff were friendly and the food was great, though service was a little slow.

The room felt cramped and cheap, and it got uncomfortably hot. The uncovered quilts also didn't seem hygienic. The place felt soulless and dated, like stepping back into the 1970s, and the value for money was tremendously bad.
