Chalet Du Bel Event

Such a lovely area, and the chalet is a really special place to stay. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I’d definitely recommend it.

We had breakfast with the other guests, which was a nice chance to hear their stories. There were croissants, baguette, butter and jams, and it was good. The nearest restaurant is 3 km away, so fellow cyclists should keep that in mind 😂, but there’s a kitchen if you want to make your own meal. The castle itself is magnificent, beautifully furnished, and right on the vélo maritime. The hosts are warm and funny. I’d absolutely recommend a stay!

The room was spacious, with a desk and bureau, and the bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. I stayed in the Irish room, which had five huge sets of windows looking out in three directions. The staff were friendly, welcoming and happy to help, and breakfast was served at 8:30 AM as promised. Chalet Du Bel Event sits among the trees in the small village of La Chapelle sur Dun. It has the feel of a former hunting lodge, with country charm and a delicate, sophisticated touch of rustic style. The house is full of remarkable antiques, from the piano to the lamps. A wonderful Normandy getaway. I’d highly recommend it and hope to return myself.

My daughter and I got lucky and booked a room here at the last minute during our Normandy trip last weekend. Dan was a really friendly host and speaks English and French fluently. I love big old houses like Chalet Du Bel Event, with all their charm. The bed was good and the sheets were nice. The bathroom felt a little old, though I think that’s what you’d expect in an old house. I’ll definitely come back.
