They even tracked down a Bluetooth earphone I’d accidentally left in the room. I sent them a prepaid postage label, and they mailed it back. That’s top class service. We had a lovely stay too, with no complaints.

For a two-star hotel, it covers most of what you need on a ski trip, though it’s quite basic. There’s no lift, so carrying bags up and down can be tough on the higher floors. Some everyday extras aren’t provided, such as a kettle or coffee machine in the room, water, room service, or daily linen changes, which is better for the environment anyway. Breakfast costs extra, but it’s good, with pastries, yogurt, eggs, and cold cuts. The staff are generally nice, though they can be hard to find sometimes. It meets the basics and has potential if you’re not after a luxury stay.

From the village center, you can reach everything you need in about a five-minute walk, and the surrounding mountain views are a real highlight. We were there for just one night for a group celebration, outside the season, so I’d expect the rating to improve when ski season arrives in La Clusaz. The staff were friendly. The buffet was simple but tasty, with a good range of local wines. The rooms were typical for this kind of hotel, though cleanliness could be better and the bathroom needs a refresh.

We’ve stayed twice and would book again without hesitation. The location is great and it’s good value. The rooms are basic but clean and lovely, with comfy beds and friendly staff. We ate at the restaurant one night and really enjoyed the food.
