Hôtel Mon Soleil

We booked a premium room online but were given a standard one at check-in. We'd also mentioned our small dog when booking, but the receptionist was incredibly rude about it and said she wouldn't have given us a room if she'd known. Then they told us they'd inspect the room for damage on the morning we left. The room was small and dirty, with a stained bedspread. We ran out of tissues and toiletries, and there was no Wi-Fi password anywhere, not in the room or even at the front desk. The receptionist had already left for the night, so we had no internet. A very disappointing experience. 👎

The property was in poor condition and not well maintained, and the owner was neither welcoming nor helpful. After we canceled because we refused to pay directly, she seemed upset, even though she was the one who wouldn't honor our original booking. Totally unprofessional. Avoid this place unless you want your travel plans ruined. I'd booked one night through Hotels.com. When we arrived, the owner said they no longer accepted reservations from the platform and that I had to cancel and pay her directly. She said she couldn't decline bookings because Hotels.com wouldn't end their contract, but that's not the customer's problem. My reservation was non-refundable and paid in multiple installments, so I had to deal with the stress of calling Hotels.com myself to get a refund. Thankfully my partner had family in Nice. Otherwise, we would've been stranded and forced to pay a fortune for a last-minute place.

We slept so well on the great mattress and pillows. The rooms are all individually designed, and the hotel has a lovely big garden full of olive trees. The bathroom was small but spotless, and the shower was great. We also had some wonderful drinks at the bar. The charming owner gave us fantastic recommendations for local restaurants and sights. A real gem, and we'd definitely come back.

The garden and scenery were beautiful, and there was good parking. Our rooms were good, clean, and quiet. The receptionist was very helpful with location tips, and breakfast and coffee were good.
