Villa Titanic

The sea is only a 10-minute walk away, and the setting works really well for a family. The villa itself is lovely, though getting in touch with the owner was hard. Staying there felt a bit like being in a dollhouse: everything seemed delicate, with a rule for every little thing. There’s also a small garden beside the main one where she quite rightly likes to read in summer. But with the way things stood between us, we felt watched. The name "Villa Titanic" comes from a Cunard representative from Cherbourg who owned the house. That history is fine, but the Rose and Jack paintings on the walls felt frankly kitschy.

Rose, the owner, was incredibly kind and helpful, and I’d happily stay here again. Villa Titanic has plenty of room for up to 10 people, with everything we needed and a spotless interior. It’s in a prime spot, about 150 meters from the beach, with hikes, mountain biking, beach walks, and road cycling routes starting right at the doorstep. It’s a fantastic place to stay in the small village of Urville-Nacqueville, population 2,000. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something special.

We hadn’t known the Cotentin before this stay, and the hilly scenery and unspoiled nature were a lovely surprise. We spent 4 sunny days there from May 1st to November 4th. The house is very pleasant, with 2 large east-facing bay windows that made breakfast in the sun easy. The kitchen is very complete, and board games were available. The kids enjoyed picking pears and apples in the garden. The beach really is just 150m away, while a bakery and shops are less than 500m away. It’s quiet with the neighbors, but you don’t feel isolated. Thanks for the stay 😊
