Hôtel-Restaurant La Clairière

We loved the forest walks that start right at the hotel, and the spa, though small, was spotless and had everything we needed. Every staff member we met, from reception and the waiters to the spa and cleaning crews, was friendly and attentive. We had a long weekend at La Clairière for New Year’s Eve, and the food was excellent, healthy and tasty. We also liked the simple fixed menu, with a choice of protein. Highly recommend it, and hope to come back soon.

We had a wonderful Easter weekend here. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere more relaxing than I expected, and the food was delicious, beautifully presented. The price felt like great value since all the spa options were included, apart from massage, which I understand. We spent most of the weekend in our robes, moving easily between the spa areas, our private terrace, the bar and the restaurants. We dressed for dinner, though other guests stayed in robes, which says a lot about the relaxed feel. Who doesn’t like a good glass of wine with a lovely meal while staying comfortable in a robe? My daughter’s perfect cat came along on his first weekend road trip. He was welcomed with all the cat amenities you’d expect, including kitty pate at every meal, and says he wants to come back soon. There are lots of hiking choices and several outdoor spots for reading, relaxing, eating and enjoying nature.

I went to the restaurant, and enjoyed the meal. The waitress was lovely, cheerful and communicative, and we really appreciated her. The food was very tasty, though as a chef I felt I could easily make it better at home. They did a better job offering vegan options than most fancy restaurants. Still, the vegan dishes were smaller than the meat and dairy versions, and didn’t need to be. I wasn’t expecting huge portions, but the main course was generous compared with similar restaurants. I’d suggest giving the vegan meals the same amount and variety of food, or even slightly larger portions.

We spent three nights here for a weekend getaway and really enjoyed it. The place was calm and relaxing, and had everything we needed. Our room was very clean, spacious enough, well furnished and seemed quite new. The service was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was really nice. I’d come back anytime.
