Dinner was fantastic and very reasonably priced, with a wonderful view alongside it. We were made to feel welcome, and the room was clean, comfortable, and simple.

Tonight was my first time ever feeling unwelcome in France as a foreigner. There was a storm, and they told me to sit outside with my dogs, saying that was what they do in Ireland.

After 20 years of visiting France and five years living here, I was treated unfairly as a foreigner for the first time at dinner tonight at the auberge de Valezan. It was clear that étrangers aren't welcome here.
