At 256 euros a night, this felt very mediocre and far too expensive for the quality. My room had no view, and the restaurant was below average and pricey. When we asked for help booking a taxi, they first handed us a business card and told us to arrange it ourselves. We had to ask again before they finally booked it for us. Reception shuts at 7:30, and once the restaurant closes there's nobody around. Only one person at the whole place speaks English.

What sticks with me about Lodge Roche Tamarin is being sent to the back of the restaurant, not the food or service. Two days before my birthday, I reserved a particular table with a sunset view for a romantic celebration with my partner. The staff said it was a good choice, but when we arrived, someone else had the table and we were squeezed into the back. I'd only return if someone invited me. It wouldn't be my choice.

The pool was beautifully decorated, and the saunas were great, including the wood-fired, steam, and infrared ones. The two things called jakkuzi weren't real jacuzzis, though, just big barrels with a few water jets. We both really appreciated our massages. Thanks so much to the ladies who gave them!

The place is very unusual, and I enjoyed the massage. But the spa could have been cleaner, with hair in the jacuzzi. We missed the sun and couldn't enjoy the lovely pool. For what it offers, we found it very expensive.

The nice wooden bungalows are in a lovely natural setting, which is why I'm giving two stars. But service needs work. Reception closes at 7 pm, so if you have a question after that, you may wait 12 hours. There's no internet in the room or shower, and there's no protection for animals. With better service, it could be wonderful.
