Athome Résidence

Internet was patchy for us. Sometimes it worked, other times we couldn't connect, though it wasn't a big problem because our mobile plan included roaming. We liked our garden-view room, the small kitchenette and the very comfortable mattress, and slept well. Breakfast stood out, with lots of tasty options and a cheese selection we especially appreciated. The reception staff were kind, and the woman running breakfast worked incredibly hard and was smart. We could point out a few imperfections, but there was so much we liked that we don't want to dwell on them. We'd definitely stay again.

Clean, nice and quiet, with a good location. It does feel more like a hostel than a hotel, though.

There are lots of restaurants by the marina, about a 15-minute walk away, where you can watch the sunset. The hotel itself is nice, but it doesn't have an evening restaurant. We hardly slept. Some kind of event kept us awake until around 3am, then traffic woke us at 7am. Ask for a quiet room. €170 felt expensive for one night with so much noise and so little sleep.

The spa was a lovely extra. You pay to use it, but then you get the place to yourself. Athome Residence was a great choice for a few days in La Rochelle, with exceptionally friendly, helpful staff and secure parking. The old town is only a 15-minute walk away.
