Hotel Saint Nicolas

Getting there by car was a little tricky, but the parking space was really convenient. The hotel is nicely located near the port, and both the room and staff were nice. We didn't have any soap in the shower, though. At this price, those details matter.

The staff were so kind and helpful. I only realized at the airport, as I was heading home, that I'd left my phone behind. The person I spoke with at Reception arranged for a taxi driver to bring it to me, and I was delighted. It's a great hotel, close to everything in La Rochelle.

The room was warmer than we'd have liked, and we couldn't adjust the temperature controls, so we had to open the windows and hear the nightlife. We knew a central spot might be noisy, especially on a Saturday, but being able to set the temperature ourselves would've helped. Still, we had a wonderful stay and will be back. The staff were amazing, and the central location made it easy to explore the city over a day or two. It's easy to get in and out, and the available parking was a huge plus for us, especially given how central it is. The bar and dining areas were lovely places to unwind, too. Check out the bar's atrium at the back, where you can sit in the sunlight among the trees and surrounding buildings. We couldn't fault anything else, and I highly recommend it.

We finished our 18 days in France here, and it was a perfect last stop. Le Saint-Nicolas Hotel is comfortable and upscale, with lovely surroundings and a great location. The room, staff, and breakfast were all très magnifique! La Rochelle is a wonderful place to visit, and this is a great place to stay.
