We spent three nights at Lostreale, a lovely little B&B with just four rooms. The garden and pool are beautiful, and the interiors are gorgeous, clearly put together with a lot of love and care by the owners. Our room was very pretty too, though having no door at all for the toilet felt odd to us. The homemade breakfasts were delicious: different cakes each morning, plus scrambled eggs and a great mix of vegetables that changed day to day. Frederic and Isabelle gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants and beaches, especially on Ile d‘Oleron, and even lent us plastic cutlery for a beach picnic. We really enjoyed our stay. One thing that surprised us was how strictly checkout was enforced. We asked whether we could use the pool for another hour or two after the 11 am checkout, but had to leave the property by checkout time.

The landscape around this lovely little gem is quite stark, so it's worth being comfortable with that. We had a great time staying here, and the hosts made us feel very welcome.

The garden is magnificent, with lovely places to pause among the greenery by the pool or on the terrace. We especially enjoyed our Écume room, a harmonious little cocoon in soft pastel shades. The late-day light was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, and the house was peaceful and relaxing. Isabelle and Frédéric were absolutely lovely hosts. Breakfast was wonderful, with freshly scrambled eggs made with vegetables from the garden and delicious fruit salad. Thank you both for all the helpful advice: Frederic knew great places to eat, and Isabelle had excellent suggestions for bike rides around the region. We'll be back to this little paradise soon!

We were lucky to spend five days in August in their wonderful home, and had a fantastic experience. The rooms were comfortable and thoughtfully finished, with real class and taste. Each morning brought a generous breakfast, with Isabelle's cakes, fruit from the garden, and chef Fred's expertly cooked brouillé eggs as the highlight. We also really valued their help, with free suggestions for beaches, restaurants, and cycling routes. Gloria and Flavio hope you get to spend a few days with them too.
