The room was quite nice, and the cottage is in a pleasant setting. The owner was friendly, and the outdoor spa was enjoyable, though it sits right in the middle of everything and could use better planning. The shared kitchen was untidy, with greasy dishes, and the bedding needs attention. The mattresses should be replaced. The welcome was mixed. The owner began by saying his card payment connection wasn’t working and that he wouldn’t take a check. We were told we’d need to get cash or he couldn’t accept payment, which meant getting back in the car after a six-hour journey. After we discussed it, he agreed we could pay the next day. All in all, a mixed two-night stay. I neither recommend it nor rule it out.

The rooms were as expected, but there’s no soundproofing between them. Breakfast is overpriced, and the outside is badly neglected, with no tidying or upkeep at all. It’s a mess everywhere. We stayed four nights with five adults, and the bathroom bin could at least have been emptied once.

It’s a shame there has to be a one-star minimum. I’d strongly advise against staying here. Avoid it.

The place doesn’t live up to its description.
