We kept coming back for dinner during our nearly week-long stay. Guy's cooking was really good, and the company made those evenings even nicer. Breakfast each day was made by the hosts with typical French products. Our Syrah room was in perfect condition and had a lovely style, with a luxurious bubble bath, two sinks, and a nice shower. We also enjoyed relaxing in the garden and exploring its different corners. Within a five-minute walk there’s a Spar, two bakeries, a bank, and a few bars. Guy and Kitty hosted us wonderfully, and I’d definitely return to explore more and recharge.

NOTE: When I last visited, this was a private residence. I don't know what the new owners have changed. Labastide-Rouairoux is a small, quaint town with friendly locals, reasonable prices, and great hiking and biking nearby. It's a good base for reaching larger cities in the south, while still giving you a feel for everyday French life. The town is safe and enjoyable to walk around, and the old rail trail runs right behind the property for miles. It's flat and easy to walk, with gorgeous views. I never reached the end of it. I lived in the residence for three months, and it remains one of the most beautiful homes I've lived in. The house sits on an old property that I believe was once a mill. Some parts of the mill have fallen into disrepair, which gives the place an authentic, historic feel. The buildings are gorgeous and well kept, while still modern and comfortable. The spacious grounds are tucked away from the town's busier parts, with lots of quiet places indoors and out to sit and relax. Downtown, if you can call it that, is just steps away. I visited in the middle of summer, when the weather was almost always gorgeous. The views and local culture made it even better. Southern France really is a beautiful place, and still one of the prettiest places I've ever been.

We had a wonderful stay in this peaceful place. The hosts are so helpful, and you can stay for a night or a whole week. They can provide dinner too, so don't forget to ask.

We found this place by chance after pointing at a map, and it turned into one of the loveliest surprises of my life. Kitty and Guy were thoughtful, helpful hosts, and our rooms were clean and well equipped. The setting felt magical, quiet, comfortable, and full of history. I can't imagine future stays easily measuring up to the delight of arriving here. Thanks, Kitty and Guy. I hope I can come back one day.

The most at-home and relaxed we felt on our trip was here. We picked this bed and breakfast almost at random while looking for somewhere quiet and beautiful off the beaten path, where we could experience local life rather than tourist spots. It was exactly what my husband had hoped for. Guy and Kitty, a Dutch couple, were friendly, helpful, and interesting hosts. Their historic property is stunning and well cared for, and the bedroom, bathroom, and shared spaces were comfortable and nicely furnished. The surrounding town is very quiet. There are places to eat a short drive away when local options are closed, and with advance notice the hosts will cook a lovely dinner at an affordable price. Kitty also suggested a nearby town to visit, which ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.
