Le Meix des Fort Chambre d'hôtes

The host was charming, and the old building has a lot of appeal. It used to be an agricultural compound. It sits across the river from a pleasant town on the Saône.

The grounds are really beautiful, and the accommodation is excellent. Staff were friendly, and Tournus is nearby with some great restaurants.

The garden was beautiful, but that was the one positive. We were incredibly disappointed and felt it was much too expensive for what we got. We arrived a little early and weren’t allowed in even a minute before the gate opened at exactly 4:00 PM. The reception felt odd, and the host seemed somewhat strange. There was just one towel for four people, and the hygiene left a lot to be desired. The toothbrush heads were too dirty to touch. The air conditioning didn’t work properly, and there was only a tiny bit of toilet paper with no spare rolls. Breakfast was meager too, with an empty honey bottle on the table and a piece of cheese that had dried out.

We were in an emergency situation, and the owner agreed to put us up. We stayed three nights in a neighboring room. The host was friendly, and breakfast was very good.
