Les Camelias

Great breakfast! The owner was friendly, and the gardens were lovely.

This is a lovely family-run place, with a very warm welcome and delicious menus featuring local dishes. For breakfast, though, we’d have liked more regional products, such as Livarot, Pont-l'Évêque, Carrouges cheese, fromage blanc, and proper Norman butter. It’s a shame they use butter made in the Puy-de-Dôme region when Normandy is known for its Isigny products.

The rooms are immaculate, bright, well equipped, and tastefully decorated. The building sits in a large park enclosed by a stone wall, so children can play safely on the swings, trampoline, and in the swimming pool. Odette and José really live up to their reputation for hospitality: they go out of their way to make guests’ stays pleasant and carefree, and they’re incredibly kind and down-to-earth. Breakfast is excellent and generous, with homemade cake, brioche, various jams, and yogurt, served in a splendid dining room converted from a former tobacco drying barn. And what a magnificent, fresh, fragrant bouquet of camellias! This was our third stay with Odette and José, which probably tells you why.

We’ve stayed three times to explore this magnificent region, and we can’t wait to return and keep discovering it. José and his wife welcome us like family, and she gets up very early to bake delicious cakes for breakfast. It’s truly wonderful, and I highly recommend it. Patrick and Brigitte
