We spent a week at maison Dodo with my wife, kids, and mother-in-law. It’s a rustic farmhouse run by a lovely couple, and the beds were really comfortable, with good-quality sheets. The pool looked a bit small for the kids at first since it’s long and narrow, but that turned out not to be a problem. We regularly spent 4-5 hours in it. The nearest town, Bergerac, is beautiful and not too busy, with all the shops you could want, a charming center, quaint cafes, medieval buildings, and boat tours. There are plenty of nice restaurants in Bergerac, but our best meals were made by Gaspar at Maison Dodo. He’s an Italian chef and managed to please me as a meat eater, my fussy mother-in-law, my vegetarian wife, and the kids. We’re a family of chefs and can be hard to please, but we were all happy with the food. We’d definitely go back.

We’ve been home for over a week, and my 3-year-old asked yesterday if I could call Gaspare, the proprietor, and ask him to make us pasta. That says a lot about Maison Dodo. It’s a beautiful property, the welcome was lovely, and Gaspare was one of the best BnB hosts we’ve ever had, maybe the best. If you’re nearby and want a warm welcome, a lovely stay, and incredible food, run there.

We needed somewhere with AC to relax after nearly three weeks of traveling, and this cozy BNB outside Bergerac was just right. There isn’t much around apart from the town and vineyards, and we had the place almost to ourselves for two restful days. The owner, who’s also the chef, made us excellent gourmet meals, which was a bonus. We didn’t leave until we had to.

The Italian chef’s love of food comes through in every bite. He prepares the dishes himself and explains them, and the Italian products were excellent. The wine was simply among the best you can find in Aquitaine. Domaine Maison Dodo is a beautiful place to unwind in nature, with huge gardens and a vineyard to wander around. The rooms have been newly renovated and are nicely furnished, and the owners are very helpful. Simply magnificent.

Maison Dodo is clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the owners run the place to a high standard. The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are comfortable, and the pool area is a relaxing spot. Breakfast and dinner were fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. I’d recommend having dinner there.
