Chateau De Bruges

We spent a night at Chateau de Bruges in August on our way to the south of France. Jake and Danielle greeted us with their little dog Merlin, and I can’t remember a warmer welcome. The building is still being renovated in places, but the finished areas are done to a very high standard. Our comfortable room and en-suite were well appointed, with tasteful decor that kept the period feel. After a long drive, a swim in the pool among the gardens and countryside views was lovely. Later we unwound with wine on the veranda, looking over the gardens and surrounding countryside. Even though they were busy, Jake and Danielle made time to talk with us and the other guests. Hearing about their move from teaching to running a hotel was really interesting. Thanks for a lovely, if brief, stay, and best wishes with the project.

Graham’s food was excellent, and Jake’s guided tour was both fascinating and full of detail. Danielle was attentive to everything. We had a fantastic night in this beautiful château, with a stunning room, a wonderfully comfortable bed, gorgeous soft furnishings and linen, and a lovely bathroom. It was far better than anywhere we’d stayed before. We’d absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting a luxurious stay in a French château.

After driving from Spain toward London, we booked a night at Chateau de Bruges that same day. Jake and Danielle quickly made room for us and our dog, Paddy, and even prepared a Table d’hote dinner. The gardens and nearby lake were a lovely break for him after the long journey. We found the château welcoming, the accommodation excellent, and the home-cooked food lovely. Our bedroom was very well appointed, especially the quality bed linen my wife liked. Jake and Danielle made a friendly atmosphere for us and the two other guests staying that evening. We’d happily recommend Chateau de Bruges to friends and family, and hope to visit again.

The atmosphere here was brilliant, and our dog Frido had a great time playing with the other dogs 🐶. As someone who notices the details, I loved the care the family puts into running the castle, from the matching colours and room lighting to the good coffee in the morning. It was a pleasure to stay here. Five stars in every way, and I’d highly recommend staying at least once. We’ll definitely come back 🇫🇷
