Les Lodges de Babylone

The wooded setting and open garden are beautiful, and honestly, they’re the reason I’m giving this place three stars. The rest was a letdown. The decor, menu, and prices lean hard into trendy artisanal hipster meets upscale lounge. Asking staff for even a small thing seemed to earn a condescending eye roll. The food didn’t live up to the look or the cost. The kids’ burgers were the dodgy frozen microwave kind you’d find at a gas station, and I wish I were joking. My foie gras burger wasn’t much better. It came sitting in oil and its own juices, so the bun turned to mush and the whole thing was inedible.

A quiet little haven in the woods of Larringes, just right for a romantic weekend or a chance to recharge.

Breakfast came right to our door, and we had a tasty meal in the lodge. My partner and I also enjoyed the terrace spa. The Lodges of Babylon made for a restful, peaceful stay that felt outside of time. The lodges are incredible, and I’d definitely recommend the place.

The chalet itself was roomy and comfortable, with a generous breakfast served on time. We also liked the setting and how close it was to the slopes and Évian. There’s plenty of potential here, but the stay was a real mix. On arrival, nobody welcomed us or explained anything, including how to order raclette. The chalet had no raclette grill, fondue set, or even an oven. The jacuzzi wasn’t working when we arrived, and there was no compensation, which was disappointing at that nightly price. We filter Hotels.com for pet-friendly places, so we booked thinking pets were allowed, then found out they weren’t. Maybe it was a website glitch. We asked them to make an exception for our small, clean Chihuahua, but they refused without considering it. That lack of flexibility and empathy ruined the vacation for us. We missed a family member. We choose to boycott rentals that don’t accept pets because that can encourage abandonment, and honest, respectful guests shouldn’t have to pay for other people’s abuses. We were traveling with a 2-year-old and sometimes ask for an earlier arrival so we can travel at night. That request was refused too, with no room for adjustment. There was a general lack of flexibility and adaptability toward guests, especially around check-in and requests.
