Domaine du Colombier, Gite La Liberte

The grounds were just stunning, exactly the French countryside we’d pictured, and the houses had so much charm. We were ten women exploring South France for seven days, and there was more than enough room: everyone had a bed, and most of us had our own room. For day trips, the location worked perfectly. Mark and Graz were a big part of why our trip went so well. They were helpful, knowledgeable, and flexible, booking meal reservations for our large group and sending maps along with tips about places we shouldn’t miss. I’d highly recommend their place if you’re thinking of visiting the area.

We loved sitting together for meals in the shaded outdoor dining areas, and the large barbecue and outdoor fridge came in handy. The views over the Grisigne Forest were spectacular, and there was plenty to keep everyone busy, from the pool and sun loungers to the floodlit petanque pitch and corn hole, which the kids loved. Our group of 13 found the gite beautifully presented, with spacious, well-equipped kitchen and luxury en suite bedrooms. We also really enjoyed the locally produced croissants and bread delivered to us. Graziella and Mark were brilliant hosts, always happy to help or offer advice. It was the best holiday I’ve had in France yet, and a perfect place for a family and friends group to holiday together.

The property itself is stunning. I could’ve spent days there just relaxing and watching the sun come up and go down. We were ten American commercial airline pilot wives, and Graziella and Mark made us feel completely welcome, taking care of everything we needed. They’re wonderful cooks, too. The spacious, clean bedrooms were beautiful, and the shared areas had that classic French countryside feel, including a wood burning fireplace. The location made it easy to visit medieval historic sites and charming towns. Graziella knows the locals, recommends the best restaurants, and can help plan an ideal itinerary around the highlights of the south of France. I can’t wait to bring my whole family. We had a great place to gather in the common area, with a kitchen, living room, dining room, and fireplace for meals and time together between outings. The rooms were spacious and private, and breakfast each day was delicious. Graziella and her husband Mark were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful, with incredible suggestions for things to do around town. Their attention to detail was second to none. The gîtes et chambres d’hôtes at Domaine de Columbier is a gorgeous property, full of old world charm and beautiful views. I hope to visit again, and highly recommend it for a girls trip!
