Great!

We had a lovely week in this charming rental, which had a nice terrace and was well equipped. The owner met us when we arrived and explained what to do and see. There was also a binder with all the information to refer to during the stay. Everything went very smoothly.
It’s a peaceful spot surrounded by nature, and the location is fantastic. The house has all the comforts we needed, and we loved the terrace. There’s a small parking area outside. The owners were lovely and attentive to what we needed. Highly recommend it!
We rented this place from July 23 to July 30, 2022, for 799 euros plus tourist tax. The photos in the listing are misleading, in my view: the accommodation is in the basement, while the floor above is occupied all year. It was terribly hot inside. Opening up meant being swarmed by mosquitoes, day and night. We had a small child, so we asked for a fan. The owner kindly lent us one, then another the next day, but they only moved the hot air around. We asked for a portable air conditioner and were told it would cost another 60 euros. We refused, given what we had paid for the week. The owner also told us she regretted having offered promotions on her site, though those promotions had been there for a long time. The accommodation is listed for eight people, but one sofa bed is very old. The kitchen hood was out of order, the electric barbecue didn’t work properly, and of the three irons, one was broken and the other two leaked when filled. We were told the electric gate could be opened with the supplied remote, but it didn’t work, so we couldn’t drive up to unload or reload our luggage. Our vehicle stayed beside the road all week on one of their private properties, which was open to everyone. With the heat, mosquitoes everywhere, vegetation all around, and a nearby river that mosquitoes love, we felt uncomfortable and cut our stay short by two days. We couldn’t use the terrace either. The high chair had no straps, so it was unusable. The accommodation was removed from Gîtes de France in December 2019. I’d also be wary of some of the reviews, since I believe they’re from people the owners know. We have several photos to back up what we’re saying. I invite people to look at my reviews. I only leave negative ones when I’m very disappointed, which seems fair if it warns others. I’ve never received a negative review myself, sorry for the owner. I understand she’s trying to defend her place, but people can decide for themselves. She says we broke the sofa bed. If we had, they should have kept the deposit, but once again we’re the ones being called dishonest. LOL. As for handing over the keys, the wife didn’t want to come, perhaps because she was afraid to face us, even though she lives 800 metres away. I didn’t know young children weren’t allowed when it’s hot. We were called noisy even though we were hardly ever in the apartment, and we left two days early. About the “verified review” logo, I never got an email inviting me to leave a review. Strange. Look at 60 million consumers and you’ll see why I don’t think “verified review” should be trusted: it blocks negative reviews. Sincerely.
The place was comfortable and pleasant, with everything we needed, and the beds were comfortable too. We had a great week. The owners were easy to reach and gave us useful sightseeing information. A perfect stay!
