The terrace had a beautiful view, which was the only good thing about our week here. The AC didn’t work, so we were given two fans, and the mattress was thinner than a table. Reception was mostly unavailable. Although the pool is marked private, I saw at least 20 people from outside using it. The bus to the place only comes on Saturday. We were made to leave at 9am, even though checkout is at 10 at the latest. There’s no pharmacy nearby, and the worker couldn’t even tell me how to get to one by bus. There was no soap and only the most basic equipment. Not worth the price.

There’s plenty to do around this residence in summer: three swimming pools, activities and entertainment, restaurants, a mini supermarket, bike rental, playgrounds, tennis courts, and a beautiful lake. The nearest beach is 1 km away, which we reached on foot and by bike; Barcares town centre is also accessible by either. There are several parking areas. Our favorite résidence! The appartements were comfortable, with a kitchen, bathroom, wc, tv, and a large balcony where we could eat, as well as in the living room.

The island has a delicatessen and restaurants, with a supermarket and many more places to eat about a 5 minute drive away in Barcarès port or elsewhere. There are cycle paths in every direction, and French drivers are very accommodating to cyclists. The Mediterranean beach is less than 5 minutes away, with miles of walking in either direction and places to stop for a gin or cocktail. It’s also about 15 minutes from Perpignan airport. Wi-fi is free nearby, but not inside the complex, because the previous management company (P&V) temporarily blocked access.

We’ll come back. It’s excellent value, with a calm setting, clean appart, a fantastic pool, fab beaches nearby, and excellent restaurants close by.

Our vacation apartment on Lake Salses in Le Barcares was clean and had everything necessary for a nice holiday.
