The heat, dust and humidity made this feel like a warrior's stay, especially with sockets dating back to 163 BC. The nights were so torrid that we slept better at home, and got only 7 hours of sleep in 5 days. Staying here can test your relationship, friendships, patience and perseverance, but at least you can enjoy coming home with a smile. The sandy floor meant the beach seemed to come to us, so my 1-year-old turned all his white bodysuits gray. Inside, the room was stiflingly hot and humid, like a safari abroad, and one fan for five of us made it feel like Koh Lanta. The dishes still showed the marks of former residents. The cutlery carried traces of what they'd eaten, and the glasses had a salty taste and a bit of crunch. There were popsicles in the fridge from the 2019 economic crisis, and a table "wine" made with balsamic vinegar, probably 5 years old, on the kitchen shelves. Laundry left in the washing machine smelled musty, like a mussel bed, throughout the apartment. Our welcome was delayed by 15 minutes by the housekeeper for a reason that remains a mystery. Was it a little Cluedo, or The Icelandic, to see whether the baby or adults would survive 15 minutes in direct sun? The housekeeper also organized our leaving party, with no extra kindness, politeness or respect, and with discrimination, threats and defamatory remarks. The landlord was attentive and very courteous. The wife said the sheets, packaged by "a whole network," cost €18. We refused them on arrival, then accepted them halfway through our stay after the owner generously offered them as a reward for surviving two out of five nights. They were then suddenly taken from the master bedroom closet, which was carefully locked. There was only a fitted sheet and pillowcase, since there wasn't time to wash everything before the next guests arrived. The employee and owner may "charge" the winner, who could even be accused of stealing moldy sheets.
