Domaine de la Font des Pères

I often eat at the finest French restaurants, and my experience at Chez Bruno was night and day from what I expected. The place felt snooty and unaccommodating. I had made a reservation, but nowhere was it clear that it was for the indoor restaurant. When I asked to sit outside, they resisted, saying the outdoor tables were fully booked even though I was very early and every table was open. They tried to seat me at a high top that didn't suit a short person. When I asked for a regular table, they said those were reserved. I pointed out that I had a reservation too, and they replied that theirs had been made in advance, just like mine. Very unpleasant. The pork I ordered was hard as a rock, and the vegetables were dry as a bone, grilled without seasoning. Just awful.

The views at Domaine de la Font Des Peres were even better than we expected. We had no reservation, but the host seated us without any problem. We asked for the best local white wine, appetizers, and a main course. The appetizers were amazing, the wine phenomenal, the bread to die for, and the dessert out of this world. Service was excellent too. We were on our first visit to the French Riviera, staying in Nice and heading toward Marseille to fly to Vienna. We wanted to spend a couple of hours at a winery enjoying local wine and food, so after a couple of hours googling and reading reviews, we picked this place for its views. We've tried white wines at wineries in Italy, USA Napa Valley, Australia, Austria, Greece, and North Macedonia, always asking for their best white. Without a doubt, this was the best white wine we've ever tasted. I can't remember its name, but I have photos, and the host can add it if he remembers us. We visited on September 18th. We couldn't leave a tip because my wife didn't ask for it to be added to the check. We highly recommend the place and will definitely return with friends and family.

We had a great time on the wine tasting tour, which cost 12€ per person and was definitely worth it. Our guide was very nice, and we had lots of fun learning about how the wine is made before tasting the great wines here. A superior experience in an amazing location!

Last year we ate at the restaurant twice and really liked the dishes and the view from the terrace. This year, when we wanted dinner, the restaurant was fully booked, so they offered us the Bistro instead. The pizza was the worst we've ever had. The so-called „Teglia au choix“ was hard as stone and difficult to eat, just a small piece of something like pizza, smaller than the street food takeaway pizzas in Italy, for 12€. Unfortunately, we ordered two. We also had a portion of tomato, cold from the refrigerator and tasteless, with a small piece of burrata and a boring dressing for 9€. The four different glasses of wine were all drinkable, but nothing special. In my view, a small glass of Bandol blanc for 12€ is too much when it's sold directly by the producer. That kind of price might make sense for a reseller. I'm sorry to leave such a bad comment, but we were really annoyed. We left the Bistro with an 85€ bill and were still hungry.
