Auberge Les Myrtilles

Caroline was lovely and very helpful. The hotel sits right by the start of two nice trails, so you can check in and head out hiking almost immediately. The view from just outside the window is amazing, and I thought this was the best location in the area.

The people were nice, and the forest around the place was pleasant, but I came away disappointed. For our anniversary, we wanted a comfortable stay and good food, and I wish we’d stayed home. We were given the rose room as an upgrade. It was spacious, but looked onto a gas storage tank and shed, and it was hot. Worst of all, the neighbors’ hunting dogs barked all night and are still barking now. Dinner was mediocre: bland cassoulet, and “ravioli” with cepes that had too much cheese and little mushroom taste. Breakfast wasn’t great, though not terrible. The place is known for its view and pool, but the view was just okay and the pool was too cold for us. If you only need somewhere to sleep, ask for a room as far from the dogs as possible. Otherwise, don’t expect much.

We stayed in the hotel and ate dinner at its restaurant. The area is beautiful, especially if you love nature, and it felt very safe. We brought our dog and cat, and they were welcoming to both. We even left the door open at night so the cat could wander around, and he loved it. We liked the place so much that we cancelled our next hotel in Andorra and stayed here for two more nights. I love the food at Spainish 5* Paradores restaurants and have eaten at more than 20, so I have a lot to compare with. The food in this small, cozy restaurant matched or exceeded them. The Ravioli was among the best my partner or I have ever had, and dinner for two was about 35 euros, which is very reasonable. Megan and Arnaolt were working during our stay, and their warm welcome and helpful tips on places to visit made it even more enjoyable. We’ll certainly come back in the near future. You’ll want a car, as getting here without one would be difficult.

Really good food, and there was plenty of it. The atmosphere was very pleasant too. I’ll definitely come back.
