For Paul Ricard, I can’t think of anywhere better to stay. It’s the best circuit hotel in France, with very high quality rooms and facilities. The restaurant is very good and has an exceptional view. I can’t wait to come back.

Dinner at La Table du Castellet was unforgettable, a world-class experience. The setting is beautiful, the rooms are elegant and kept in perfect condition, and everything feels peaceful. Michael at the front of the hotel made our stay memorable. He was efficient, friendly, and always willing to help, taking great care with our car and luggage. The whole front-of-hotel team were amazing. We were there with three kids and two adults, and had a fantastic stay. If I owned a hotel, I’d hire people like Michael right away and make sure they were paid well. Their warmth and dedication really set this place apart. Highly recommend staying here. We had a very good stay and enjoyed the place, though there are several things that could be improved. The staff were excellent overall, pleasant, smartly dressed, and always smiling. The valet team tried hard to keep us out of the rain, and our receptionist showed us around the facilities on the way to our room since it was our first visit. There’s a closed gate at the entrance, which caught us by surprise. We even went looking for what we thought must be the proper entrance, but you have to stop at the intercom and ask to be let in. It feels intimidating and unwelcoming. If you’re alone in a right-hand-drive car, you’d have to get out and run around to use it. A hotel of this calibre should have someone at the gate to welcome guests. The shower in our room had an overhead rainfall head and a handheld one, switched with a tap that had seized up. We told a manager as we went to dinner on our first night, but nothing had been done by the next morning, so we asked reception. That evening we asked a member of the room staff, and only then did anyone act. Having to ask three times isn’t good. The bottle of white wine at the main restaurant had sediment in it, which wasn’t what we expected. It really should have been decanted. At the bistro, they’d run out of cassis for our favourite apero. Being so close to Cassis, the port, made that seem a bit comical. The peace was sometimes broken by screaming engines and planes. The hotel is across the road from Circuit Paul Ricard and Aéroport du Castellet, so that noise may suit some people. There was even a free aerobatics display. The gardens were lovely in general, but many flowering plants badly needed dead-heading. The partly glazed swinging doors inside looked cheap and didn’t match the classic decor. They could also swing into a small child, and there were lots of children around. Sliding glass doors would have been better. The main pool was still pretty cold at 24°C at the end of June, though a few brave people swam. The indoor pool was 30°C, and there was another spa pool that we didn’t try. We walked around the golf course, and I was glad I hadn’t brought my clubs. It has six holes, all but one par 3, with the sixth a driveable par 4 for big hitters. The place has 5 stars, 3 Michelin Keys and 3 Michelin Stars, so I expected it to be great. It was very good, which is why I gave it this rating, but those are the things that let it down.
