Résidence Odalys Le Village des Amareyeurs

The place is spacious and quiet, with plenty of storage, and works well for children. The kitchen is small but has enough for a holiday. It’s easy to walk to both the centre of Château d'Oléron and the beach, and the staff on site are friendly and welcoming. The cleaning could be more thorough, and the bedding could be better quality.

This residence has several bedrooms and worked well for our family of five. The double bathroom is a bit dated, but practical. The pool is nice, although the pebbles around its edge hurt your feet. It’s close to all amenities, the beach, and the free shuttle. We were disappointed that sheets and towels weren’t included, and one room hadn’t been cleaned. I took the photos just before we left. House number 13 has a large garden, two sun loungers, and afternoon sunshine. It was the first time we’d had sun loungers at an Odalys resort, and we really enjoyed them when the weather was sunny. The residence is quiet and parking is easy. It’s a good choice if you want somewhere peaceful with a big garden, though there’s no fence between the houses. There’s a hedge that gives good privacy, but a dog could wander into the neighbour’s house. The town centre, with all its shops, is just 5 to 10 minutes away on foot, and a lovely beach with a boardwalk is also a five-minute walk. The receptionist was very friendly and gave us helpful suggestions for places to visit. We were there for a week at the end of May. The house has one bedroom downstairs and one upstairs, with a shower room and toilet on each floor. The stairs are quite steep, so take care at night or when you’re not fully awake. The only downside was the Odalys Wi-Fi, which worked in the garden but not inside the house, perhaps because we were in a corner of the complex. Bouygues Telecom coverage inside was excellent and fast. We’ll be back.

Everything we needed was about a five-minute walk away: the market, restaurants, Super U supermarket, beach, town centre shops, and pizzeria. The accommodation was comfortable, especially the bedding, which was a real plus. The residence was quiet, at least in the off-season, and clean. The apartments were practical, well equipped, and matched both our expectations and the website description.
