Mercure Versailles Paris Ouest

I was in room 109. The temperature control wouldn’t work when I tried to cool the room to 17 degrees, and after a shower the whole bathroom floor was soaked. Apart from that, it was a nice, clean room, with a decent breakfast and helpful staff. The hotel is close to Versailles castle.

My room was perfect and very clean, and the service was good from check-in through check-out. Breakfast was good too, though there’s always room to improve. The main downside is the distance to central Versailles, about a 30-minute walk. On the plus side, the biggest mall in Versailles is less than two minutes away on foot. I recommend it.

The bed wasn’t great, and the materials felt sweaty. The carpets are worn, especially in the stairwell. You can bring a dog, but the next morning they told us to leave the breakfast room because dogs aren’t allowed there. If dogs can’t come in, that should be clear when booking with one. Leaving the dog alone in the room would have made it wake everybody.

The staff were great and very friendly, and the location was very convenient for us. The room was clean but scruffy, with a burn mark on the carpet and scuffs on the walls. Despite what looks like a recent renovation, the hotel feels tired and dated. It was okay for one night, but I wouldn’t book again.
