Sci Eden

A great place.

For €110 a night, Caribbean Village feels expensive for what you get. The bungalows are new and clean, but pretty basic. The bedding is good, though the kitchen and bathroom are very basic too. The sea you see in the photos is actually a harbor, not a beach, while the superb beach at St. Felix is 500m away. The windows, doors, and French doors aren't well insulated, so mosquitoes get in, and we found a centipede under the sofa when we arrived. The pool isn't very appealing, and the gardens could use work, with paint cans left lying around. Wi-Fi doesn't reach the apartment, so you have to go outside onto the terrace for a signal. Breakfast is rather meager and doesn't feel worth €7. They could do more to make this a pleasant place.

The setting and the food were superb, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and very kind. We had a lovely view from our clean, very spacious bungalow, which can accommodate two or four people. The pool is beautiful and large. The beach is only a few minutes' walk away, though it wasn't at its best during our stay. The location is excellent.

The only reason I can give one star is that zero isn't an option. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was worse than mediocre. The owner was very unpleasant and made things awkward straight away. The website calls the bedding high-end, but what we found was disastrous: urine stains on the mattresses, old pillows with the filling clumped up, a children's sofa bed being offered to adults, broken slats, metal bars sticking out, and hairs in the sheets. Ants had taken over the kitchen, nesting in badly sealed corners of the damaged worktop, and exposed wires were sticking out of a broken outlet by the sink. In our little house, only a shower curtain separated the bathroom from the bedroom, so there was almost no privacy. Noise from two nearby nightclubs went on until 4 a.m. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but the owner mistreated them in public, belittled them, made snide remarks, and even insulted customers. He was drunk when he verbally attacked a customer in front of everyone. When we raised the bedding issue, he practically laughed in our faces and did nothing to fix it. An employee tried to help by giving us an air mattress to put on top of the sofa bed. Unheard of! The sea in the photos isn't accessible for swimming. It's a small harbor where swimming is strictly prohibited. The sea is nearby, but you can't get to it. Fortunately, the surrounding nature and outdoors helped us enjoy our stay outside the hotel. My advice is simple: run away!
