Sowell Residence Sablons - Le Grau Du Ro

It was just okay.

The residence was quiet when we visited in May. We stayed four nights with friends on an all-inclusive package. The meals were decent, and it was easy to make a nice mixed plate for lunch, though you could also eat in. Staff were very friendly. There was no housekeeping, but they did replenish the toilet paper during our stay. I wish we'd been told when booking that parking costs 12 euros per night.

We slept well, and the basic amenities worked for us, including reversible air conditioning. The buffet was plentiful, varied and good, with something for everyone, and the all-inclusive package was especially handy with children. The heated water in the big pool was a real plus, and we loved swimming there. The leisure area had something for every age, including tennis, football and a playground for 2-6 year olds. Rackets and balls were available to borrow, and the beach was directly accessible from the residence. Parking was free and accessible during our stay, though the receptionist said it would soon become a paid service. La Grande Motte, with its Ferris wheel and carousel, was only a few minutes' pleasant walk away. There were a lot of mosquitoes, so bring insect repellent. The residence can't really do anything about that. We had a wonderful family holiday and would gladly come back.

The pool was unfortunately too cold for me, but we still had a good stay. The apartment was very nice and close to the beach, and the staff were polite and helpful. La Grande Motte was also conveniently not too far away.
