Hôtel & Spa - Thalazur Port Camargue

The heating barely worked, and the staff were very rude, with no respect and unwilling to speak English. They also knew little English in general, as nobody spoke a language other than French. We weren't given a payment receipt at check-in, though they did take a deposit. The restaurant portions were small. We wanted to use the spa, but I wasn't allowed to swim in shorts. This is a terrible hotel, two stars at most.

The breakfast didn't offer much choice, which was the weak point. I liked the rooms, and that's why I'd give them five stars. The service was good too, three stars from me, while the beachside location gets four. The rooms get four stars overall.

The two main things that could put me off coming back are outside the hotel itself: there was lots of little broken glass on the beach, and mosquitoes were everywhere in the region. The mosquitoes were unusually bad and really took away from the stay, enough to make me question a return or a recommendation. There’s stagnant water around, and watering the gardens over the walkways and sidewalks doesn’t help. The hotel, meanwhile, is well placed, quiet, and has friendly, attentive staff who act quickly when you need something. The beach access and beach itself are pretty good, and the two pools include a decent kids’ pool with a grippy surface. One pool is oddly too deep for some reason, and it’s best to be careful around the outside to avoid falls. The roof-level restaurant has great views, though the elevators get busy and the stairs aren’t an easy substitute. The rooms are nice, the safes fit about three standard laptops, and the room doors shut quite hard, though the rooms otherwise seem well soundproofed. Some finishes aren’t great, but that’s somewhat understandable given recent times. Breakfast is quite good, and the room cleaning is good too, though a few small details might bother some guests.

The rooms and restaurant were comfortable and very good, but there were quite a few things broken. One of the two elevators would always stop if you pressed the buttons at the wrong time, and the electrical sockets sometimes came loose from the wall. The staff also didn't know much about the surrounding area.
